Giuliani and Murphy’s Law
By Ned | December 1, 2007
I haven’t really written at all about Giuliani’s ongoing scandalfest, and really there’s not much to write about besides pointing out the excellent coverage happening at that place where I’ve been interning this semester. But if you want a summary of why the mayor of 9/11 could probably use some soothing tea and a nice long bubble bath after this week, check out Steve Benen’s Rudy’s Week-long Scandalthon time line.
None of these scandals really show a side to Giuliani that people closely following his campaign didn’t recognize - all of these stories draw attention to his more outstanding attributes, such as his rampant narcissism, poor judgment, disconnect from reality and willingness to do business with people who are against everything he claims to represent. What these stories will hopefully do is let everyone else, particularly the non-campaign junkies, know that. And it will be interesting to see what the legal implications of the “Shag Fund” scandal are, although unfortunately my guess is “none.”
