This is my last post before NYC, I swear

By Ned | March 13, 2007

I wasn’t planning on any blogging today, but a couple of things caught my eye. The first one comes from the blog of Dave Sirota, an alumnus of the Ned Lamont campaign. he links to an interview with Al Sharpton in which Sharpton asks something similar to what I’ve been asking the Obama campaign (with little luck) - why Obama, who relies heavily on his anti-war cred, did nothing to support Lamont in CT’s most recent Senate election.

Hopefully Sharpton will have better luck getting an answer from him, and hopefully Obama will answer, though I’m skeptical. I desperately want to like the man as a candidate, but I’m getting very weary of his bullshit.

Even more interesting news comes from Josh Marshall this morning. Apparently Aberto-Gonzales-firing-special-prosecutors-for-political-reasons-gate is heating up. Gonzales’ chief of staff has resigned, which I suppose makes him the intended fall guy (or as they’re called in the White House, the George Tenet) in this sordid tale. But the New York Times seems to indicate that the president himself was behind the firings.

This is starting to get ugly. Will Gonzales be the next guy to take the fall just to insulate the president from this? Let’s hope so - maybe if Bush knows he has to get the next AG by a Democratic Congress he won’t nominate one who just can’t restrain himself from gushing over how quaint the Geneva Conventions are.

Alright, off to NYC now.
